We’ve already posted today’s Friday post about how to get a pre-release copy of our new resource coming out. However, I also wanted to share what’s happening with some children and youth in Kibera, the largest slum in Nairobi and the second largest slum in urban Africa.
The Turning Point Trust works with families in Kibera through children’s centers, micro-finance projects and farming schemes. On their blog Pippa writes:
I remember one day at school there was a power cut and we were all sent home for the day for health and safety reasons (no power meant the fire alarm wouldn’t work). It was great! A free day off school!
For kids in Kibera, a day off school is not such good news. It means roaming the streets. It means no school lunch. It means being at risk.
You can read the rest of the post here and you can find out more about TP Trust and what your youth can do to help youth in Nairobi here.
Update since posting: The teachers have now returned to work.
