Recommendations for the Youth Workin’ It Team

International Youth Non-Profit Development:

“Shae worked with rYico initially as an administrative volunteer and then began carrying out educational workshops in the UK as part of her MA. She also spent time in Rwanda training staff at Centre Marembo, rYico’s youth training and resource centre in Rwanda.

Shae was also integral to building the capacity of the organisation in the UK and in Rwanda and contributed the development of the organisation’s social enterprise, Shop4Rwanda.com. She spent the latter part of her time with rYico as Secretary on the Board of Trustees and brought innovative insights into fundraising, business planning and staff and volunteer development. She was an asset to the organisation.”

– Anna Chipendale, rYico Treasurer

Church Youth Group Development:

“Shae has a true love of children and is able to quickly gain their trust and loyalty. She is innovative and results driven. In a matter of months she was able to help the church revitalize its youth programming.

She was also very effective in training our lay staff on how to maintain and develop the program so that we would retain the momentum she created while we searched for a new Youth Minister/Coordinator.”

– Kitty Baker, Church Volunteer Youth Worker

Working with Young People:

“I met Stephen and Shae Pepper sort of by accident as I was stumbling my way very slowly towards God. They were running a church youth group that a lot of my friends went to and I sort of came along for the social aspect; having decided that God was rubbish and I didn’t want or need Him in my life even if He did exist.

In a Christian youth group it would have been easy for me to feel isolated and left out, but Stephen and Shae somehow managed to always make me feel included and wanted in the group, without any pressure to conform to their beliefs. However, the more they showed me of the God they knew and His effects in their lives, the more I realised I wanted God in my life too.

I never felt pressured to change my beliefs, but they did help me feel guided and supported in my walk towards God.  When sharing my testimony I often mention Stephen and Shae’s influence in their loving and supportive attitude. I think they are a wonderful example of good youth work, and more importantly good Christian living which touches other people’s lives in unique ways.”

-Laura Lawn-Hunt, Former Youth Group Member (This is an excerpt, for the full recommendation click here)
